Hi All

My CRV2003 aircond compressor start giving problem. From the authorized honda service center quote me RM5800 to change all the system including the a/c condenser. I find this is too expensive. Anyone who got better suggestion and experience on this please share and appreciate with your comment.

Any aircond specialist outside would be a lot more economical. Wait for some of the members to recommend shops they are familiar with to you lar.

hi all

tks for the reply. i'm in pj but KL w/shop should't be a problem.
I've made few surveys and found out price ranging from 1.5k-2k. Most w/shop recomend to use denso and when i refer this maker to honda authorise w/shop they told me denso is not so compatible and my damage the a/c bearing etc..... (i don't understand.. too technical)

I have no choice and have to go for outside w/shop and take the risk. RM5800 is too expensive. I suggest Honda should review this price to make thier customer to be loyal to their sevice center.

Anyone had experience changing CRV a/c compressor, please advise.

Entaro - Where is N1? Do you have the telephone number. So sorry, i'm new in this forum.

thanks again...

if cost is an issue, then go for a second-hand unit or a reconditioned unit.

Denso vs other makes for Honda is sometimes a 'political' issue. Denso is owned by Toyota. Honda hates Toyota (and vice versa). So Honda will try not to use Denso. In any case, Honda always tries to use Showa because they have part ownership of Showa. Nevertheless, nowadays Honda is more open and you will find that in their owner manual, often they will list NGK and Denso as compatible spark plugs. Sometimes it is true about compatibility, e.g. the Denso units may not have the exact correct specs for your car and if you use one 'nearest', you may risk shortening the life of the aircond system components. Check and see what brand Honda recommends (including model) and then try to find a workshop that can source the exact model for you. It is possible to get Showa aircond components outside as well. Try some of the independent Honda spare part shops (Exceptional, Hingan, Jyunsei, etc) and see if they stock air-cond components. Check yellow pages for Showa (or whatever brand is used in your car) and then call the shops to see if they can get you the brand.

Ex-Cool is a 'cool' place. I once went to ready to blow RM300 on an air-cond fan but the guy was honest and no bullshit and told me he don't think the fan will meet my requirements so he rather not sell it to me and risk dissapointment, rather that than risk an unsatisfied customer.

Correct, Loo is a great guy... and as Wong said, he won't change anything unless it's broken.. if it can still be used, he will use it... u can call him at 0193116423, all my aircon and wiring stuff is done by him....

zack6996,

Have you changed your a/c compressor? So you been to Ex-cool? May i know the workshop location? :)

Besides, please do not replace a denso model compressor into your car, in fact yours is keihin model. The denso compressor will cause your tensional damage. Many customers kena tat.....
