According to Honda Malaysia's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Atsushi Fujimoto, Honda Malaysia has sold more than 132,764 units of Honda City as of 2007 but 25,480 of them are not equipped with rear center belts. For that, all Honda City owners can get a free installation of the rear center belt from any of the Honda 3S Service Centers nationwide. Cars which are bought second hand or has gone through ownership transfer are eligible for the free installation as well. The installation will start in October and will be conducted in batches. Honda Malaysia will inform the owners on further details accordingly.

Mr. Atsushi Fujimoto was at the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (JKJR) and Honda Malaysia. With the signing of the memorandum, Honda Malaysia has become the first non-national car manufacturer to sign the memorandum to support and promote the Ministry of Transportation's Rear Seat Belt campaign.

Commenting on the MoU, Mr. Atsushi Fujimoto said, “Promoting road safety has always been a commitment of Honda. And here in Malaysia, we seek to partner with the Government in its efforts to promote road safety. Thus, we are very pleased to enter into this MoU today with JKJR, becoming the first non-national car manufacturer in Malaysia to do so. This MuU is a natural response by Honda Malaysia and is part of our commitment to our customers in support of the government’s move towards road safety.”
